YouTube Introduces AI Content Tagging Tool for Enhanced Content Organization

Google’s efforts to identify AI-generated content have now expanded to YouTube. The platform recently introduced a new tool for tagging AI content.

YouTube has announced that while creators will be asked to disclose AI-generated content, the use of the new tagging tool for AI content will be encouraged as a voluntary action rather than a mandatory requirement. With this new tool, creators have the capability to transparently mark their videos if they contain AI-generated or synthetic materials.

New artificial intelligence label arrives on YouTube

The new tool is integrated into the upload and publication process on YouTube, requiring creators to declare any “altered or synthetic” content that mimics realism. This encompasses any modifications that make it appear as if a real person is saying something they never said.

It also includes alterations to the imagery of actual events and locations or the realistic depiction of events that never occurred, encompassing deepfake visuals and sounds, as well as the AI voiceovers that have become increasingly common.

YouTube elaborated on its policy regarding AI-generated content towards the end of last year. While the platform enacted stringent regulations to safeguard music labels and artists, it adopted a more lenient approach for others.

For instance, if you are Eminem and discover that your voice has been replicated in another song without permission, you have the right to request the removal of such content.

Conversely, if you’re an everyday individual and find your deepfake image being circulated on YouTube, you will need to submit a privacy request form for the company’s evaluation.
